Voice Lessons with Lauren Morgan 

Individual Sessions: $30.00 for 30 minutes, $50 for 60 minutes

For beginning, intermediate, or advanced students:

Voice lessons are taught in 30 minute or one hour sessions. Students learn about vocal technique such as breath support, placement, posture and diction through vocal exercises and singing songs chosen by the teacher and student together. Students will work on stage presence and song interpretation. Beginning students will work on the basics of music theory, pitch, tone, keeping a steady tempo and a clear emotional interpretation of a song. Advanced students will focus on fine tuning their vocal technique for a clear and effortless tone and work to create a compelling and nuanced interpretations of their repertoire for auditions and performances.

Meet your Instructor:

Lauren Morgan is an accomplished director, actor, and designer. A native of California, Lauren worked extensively throughout the San Francisco Bay Area before relocating to Fort Worth, Texas. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from TCU. She has directed countless productions for Stolen Shakespeare Guild with her husband, Jason. Some of her favorites include Oklahoma, The Hollow, Sense and Sensibility and Little Women. As a costumer, she specializes in historical productions and has costumed most of SSG’s productions. Favorite roles at SSG include Lily in The Secret Garden, Marian in The Music Man, Amalia in She Loves Me and Nora in A Doll’s House. She has also been seen locally with Fort Worth Opera (La Boheme, Romeo et Juliette), Lyric Stage (110 in the Shade, Celebration), Theater Arlington (Music Man, Leading Ladies) and many others. Lauren is the recipient of multiple Column Awards and a DFW Theater Critics Forum award.

Stolen Shakespeare Guild ACTOR WORKSHOP 2024

Immerse yourself in the life of a professional actor as you train with the Stolen Shakespeare Guild this summer. This workshop is designed for students ages 11 to 18.

This workshop is for those who are serious about taking their work to the next level and seeing what life as a professional Shakespearian actor is really like. The workshop culminates in a showcase performance, free to family and friends.  

Instruction from our professional company, Classes in Voice, Movement, Acting, Shakespeare, Auditioning, and more.

COST: $250.00

Shakespeare Competition 

DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to experience the excitement of performance while learning the works of William Shakespeare! This competition offers a no pressure performance opportunity and the chance to win a Scholarship to our Summer Shakespeare Workshop and a donation to your drama program. The contest is open to students ages 11 to 18. Students may one monologue /soliloquy by William Shakespeare The contestants send us their monologue via video. Each performance must be at least one minute and no more than two minutes and must be memorized not read.  

Shakespeare Registration Form and Video due by May 15th, 2023Contact us at shakespeareguild@aol.com to get a registration form. 

AWARDS:
Those who place 1st or 2nd will win donations for their drama programs and a Scholarship to our Shakespeare Summer Workshop. The prize money donated to the winners may be used for supplies for the drama teacher’s classroom, a production, or UIL Competition.

COST:· There is no charge to participate in this competition.· Individuals can enter but cash prizes must be donated to a drama program or you can just accept the Scholarship.   

REGULATIONS: Material must be from William Shakespeare’s plays. Monologues should be no longer than 2 minutes.  

EVALUATIONS: The Competition will be judged by SSG Artistic Directors and Workshop Staff.

Lauren Morgan has a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Christian University and 20 years experience teaching voice. She has taught children as young as six through adults in their sixties! Over the past few years, Lauren has taught and prepared auditions with high school seniors who have been accepted into Music or Musical Theater programs at SMU, TCU, Oklahoma City University, Baylor, Trinity University, UNT, Belmont, and Eastman. She has adult musical theater students in professional productions all over Texas. As a performer, Lauren has been seen with Fort Worth Opera, Lyric Stage, Theatre Arlington, and Stolen Shakespeare Guild.

Monologue coaching with Nathan Autrey
Individual Sessions: $25.00 for 30 minutes.

We will beginning with learning how to find fitting audition selections and how to cut them appropriately. Then, we will help develop the audition and for completely worked audition selections. The goal by the end of the class will be that each student will have two appropriate contrasting monologues that are audition ready. The student will also gain the skills for the future to find and cut dynamic audition selections. Class will meet for a scheduled 1 hour period each Monday. Students will be expected to prepare in advance for each Monday session.

Nathan Autrey holds a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of North Texas and an M.F.A. in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. He has over ten years of experience in education and as a professional actor and director. Nathan has taught theatre both at the secondary and collegiate level, including the construction and implementation of theatre curriculum for three different Texas school districts. Nathan was awarded the Bayard Friedman Drama Director of the Year award in 2015 and his production of Shrek the Musical won Best Musical in the Betty Buckley Awards in 2014. Professionally, Nathan helped create Broken Gears Project Theatre. Under his direction, Broken Gears was awarded a Top Ten Production in 2010 for John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (Dallas Morning News), and BEST Production in 2011 for The Pitchfork Disney (Dallas Morning News). Broken Gears also performed the US premiere of The Magdalene Whitewash and the English premiere of The Hand by German Madriad. Nominations for Nathan also include John Garcia’s The Column for Best Direction and numerous positive theatrical reviews within top Dallas Fort-Worth area publications. He also served as an Artistic Associate for the non-profit Classical Theatre Company – Stolen Shakespeare Guild, where he has directed and acted in several productions each season. Lawson Taitte of the Dallas Morning News called Nathan the “youngest, talented director in Dallas.” These past few years Nathan has worked and directed for three different Off-Broadway Theatres in NYC: The Daryl Roth Theatre, HERE Arts, and The Irish Repertory Theatre. His recent work, Lenny Bruce is Back, was nominated for Best Touring Show of the Year in 2018 by Broadway World and featured nominations for both Best Direction and Best Actor. Nathan currently serves as the Artistic Director for the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre and is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Union.
